February, 2015 . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . Siliguri, North Bengal

There we sat, two Americans in a room of our colleagues coming from the Ukraine, Russia, Poland, Canada and Britain!  What a joy, despite our differences, to fellowship and interact with the family of God from around the world.

Our goal is to listen, provide coaching, support and ‘care’ for our colleagues or as Ken likes to say -- share about the benefits we have as colleagues – “Colleague Care”.  As we read in Colossians 3:11 (in the Message), we were reminded of how as believers we are all included in Christ and that is what matters:

“Words like Jewish and non-Jewish, religious and irreligious, insider and outsider, uncivilized and uncouth, slave and free, mean nothing. From now on everyone is defined by Christ, everyone is included in Christ.”

We have shared some exciting news, discussed some painful issues and wept with a few as we visit with our colleagues and local partners here in South Asia—but all the while praising God for how He is at work in all our lives—by His Grace.  Thank you for your prayers and support as we minister, and for those that we are meeting with these days.

In His service,

Ken and Joyce

 Prayer Requests

·       Pray for our colleagues who are here to minister but face concerns on many levels--from ministry challenges, to unrest in their home countries.

·       Continue to pray for our Director, Bruce and his wife, Kathy who is now getting a 6 month chemo treatment in the US.  Several have stepped up to help take on work to lighten Bruce’s work load—including Ken who will be taking on more responsibilities until they return to S. Asia.

·       Appreciate prayer for our son, Luke, as his wife, Nicki will start back to work next month.  They need to make decisions about childcare options.

 Praise Items

·       We are grateful for the encouragement we have received personally from our many friends and colleagues here in South Asia.  These trips are good but there are times it is not easy.

·       The meetings we had the first week we were here in S. Asia went very well.  There were 30 attendees coming from 9 different countries and all arrived safely and found the meetings very beneficial.

·       Praise God that we were able to make our home in Dallas available while we are away, to a couple that needed a place to stay.

·       As we step into the Season of Lent, with grateful hearts we are reminded of the sacrifice that Jesus made on our behalf.

Answers to Prayer - We asked you to pray and God answered…

·       Our travels have gone well—no delays, lost luggage or unexpected surprises—and both of us have been healthy as well.   (We’ll be back in Dallas March 20th so keep us in your prayers.)

·       Our Director Bruce’s wife, Kathy is getting chemo treatments.  She has recovered well from the surgery but her first session of chemo was difficult—her second session went somewhat better.

·       Continue to pray for the persecuted church here.  A couple that were jailed have been released but their ministry in the area is being stopped.
