Barry Clark Walker passed away on February 6, 2009. He was 66 years old. 34 of his 66 years were spent teaching math, science, basketball, and volleyball. He taught in public, parochial, missionary school (Faith Academy), and at Briarwood Christian School in Birmingham, AL. He spent 24 of the 34 at Briarwood Christian High School. His greatest pleasure was to visit with former students, and correspond with them. His achievements were global, and he was recognized by the US President in 2006 for his exemplar teaching methodology. In recent years, he shared in seminars with teachers across our nation concerning Scientific Modeling for the Math and Science classrooms. His life skills were used greatly by our Lord, and he died with a looking-forward heart to be with his Lord and Savior. Barry left his wife, Bonnie, and his children, Jennifer Walker ‘83 (Mark) Nichols, Tom ’85 (Angel) Walker, Steve ’85 (Donna) Walker, and Jess Marie ’88 (Larry Hoagland) Walker. His nine grandchildren are: Brad Nichols (23), Wes Nichols (20), Trey Nichols (19), Eva Yancey (17), Reegan Walker (16), Stephen Walker (15), Walker Yancey (13), Abbey Walker (13), and Cole Walker (11). Barry would tell you straight-up and personal that his life was "blessed". We rest in knowing where he is, and that his life-work is over. God just had a bigger job for him waiting in Heaven. Hallelujah! Praise Ye The Lord!!
